New Jersey’s expanded family leave rules go into effect in under two months, have you begun preparations? Under the current NJFLA rules, New Jersey employers with 30 or more employees are subject to the rules; however, effective July 17, 2026, the minimum employee threshold will decrease to “15 or more employees for each working day during each of 20 or more calendar workweeks in the then current or immediately preceding calendar year.” Additionally, the rules have been modified to reduce the number of base hours an employee must work during the preceding 12-month period to be eligible for job-protected leave under NJFLA from 1,000 to 250.
