Among the 2007 survey's numerous findings:

  • The average annual health plan cost per employee was $6,881, with an average employee contribution of $3,110, and an average employer contribution of $3,771 per employee.
  • The average premium increase was 7.2% taking into account plan changes.
  • Average premiums in the Northeast were 13.8% higher than the national average.
  • Of the plans offered, PPOs dominate the market at 55.9%.
  • Consumer Driven Health Plans comprise 8.8% of all plans offered by employers versus 5.58% in 2006.
  • The majority of the increase in the adoption of Consumer Driven Plans continues to come from employers with under 1,000 employees, with the highest sub-segment being employers with 25 - 100 employees.
  • Employees contributed on average $90 for single coverage and $385 for family coverage per month.
  • Average HRA employer contribution was $1,138 for single and $2,105 for family.
  • Average HSA employer contribution was $688 single and $1,089 family.
